Watermelon is not toxic to cats. It is, however, high in carbohydrates and sugar, which are hard for cats to digest. Additionally, the rind can cause gastrointestinal upset in cats, and seeds can cause an intestinal blockage. Cats can eat bite-size pieces of watermelon flesh, without the seeds or rind.
Caution: Cats lack the enzymes required for digesting carbohydrates, therefore, their diet should not exceed 2% of carbohydrates or sugars. Read more.
